Wedding Cake

Having your cake made abroad is possibly the best idea as if your taking it with you, you will have the worry of transporting it, which may also turn into a customs concern.  You should also consider that your cake will have to wait until your wedding day so if may not be as fresh as if it was made at your destination.  Having your cake made abroad can be a wonderful idea as it will add to your wedding experience, you may for opt for something traditional to the country your visiting.

If your marrying in America or the Caribbean you may like to take part in their tradition of Newlyweds smashing cake into each others faces... yes really!  If this is not something you want to partake in, make sure your photographer is aware.

If you really do want to take a cake with you, ensure you tell your cake designer understands that you plan to take your cake abroad as it will affect the design and filling of the cake. I certainly would not advise sponge cake, for example, as it should be made only a few days before the wedding as it is likely to dry out.  Your cake designer will also need to create something that will travel well and package it appropriately for the journey.  Make sure you discuss this with the airline and check customs advise, as your cake will need to travel as hand
