- The average cost to get married in your chosen countries
- How far will your guests have to travel to attend? Can they fly from their local airport?
- If you intend to have children at your wedding, does the hotel accept children?
- If your guests stay at a different hotel, will your hotel charge them for attending your hotel?
- Do you want to plan yourself or would you like the hotel/travel agent to arrange everything?
- Check the legal and residential requirements for getting married in your chosen country
- Will your chosen country carry out the ceremony in your language?
- Check how many weddings take place per day if you are marrying at a hotel and make sure you are happy with this.
Confirm Legal and Residential Requirements
- Contact the foreign embassy or consulate to confirm the legal and residential requirements for getting married in your chosen country
- Ensure you understand the timeframe and steps that you need to complete for the ceremony to take place. You may need to be in the country for 'x' days before your marriage ceremony.
Decide on a Wedding Date
- Check peak times as this may make it more expensive for you and your guests to attend
- Check if there are any large festivals taking place which may increase prices
- Once you have decided what time of year would you like to marry and once you have checked the climate select a date
Guest List
- Who would you like to attend your wedding holiday?
- What does it cost your guests to attend your wedding abroad?
- Can you cover any of your guests expenses?
- Consult with your guests as early as possible to see if they are able to attend as they may not be able to commit financially
- Are you going to book for your guests or will they make their own arrangements?
Set Wedding Budget
- Decide how much you would like to spend
- if you have chosen a hotel wedding, do they offer wedding packages and if so, what do they include?
- Decide on what components you would like to include in your wedding e.g. Photographer, Steel Pan Band, Chair Covers with pink bows. Number them in order of importance and allocate your budget.
Wedding Planning
- How much involvement would you like?
- Would you like to plan everything yourself or use the wedding planning services of a hotel, tour operator or independent agency in your chosen country?
Extra Wedding Activities
- Would you like to plan extra activities for your group? E.g. Sunset Cruise, pre-wedding day meal, sightseeing trip, wake-boarding for the groom prior to the wedding!
- Will you be holding a wedding party on your return home? If yes, ensure you include this in your budget and plan this separately
