Wedding Cake

Having your cake made abroad is possibly the best idea as if your taking it with you, you will have the worry of transporting it, which may also turn into a customs concern.  You should also consider that your cake will have to wait until your wedding day so if may not be as fresh as if it was made at your destination.  Having your cake made abroad can be a wonderful idea as it will add to your wedding experience, you may for opt for something traditional to the country your visiting.

If your marrying in America or the Caribbean you may like to take part in their tradition of Newlyweds smashing cake into each others faces... yes really!  If this is not something you want to partake in, make sure your photographer is aware.

If you really do want to take a cake with you, ensure you tell your cake designer understands that you plan to take your cake abroad as it will affect the design and filling of the cake. I certainly would not advise sponge cake, for example, as it should be made only a few days before the wedding as it is likely to dry out.  Your cake designer will also need to create something that will travel well and package it appropriately for the journey.  Make sure you discuss this with the airline and check customs advise, as your cake will need to travel as hand

Mens Wedding Attire

If your wedding is being held in a tropical climate, your groom may decide not to opt for full wedding attire.  Many men prefer to wear smart waistcoats and not the jacket.  If this is the case, you may find it cheaper to purchase their waistcoat and cravat rather than hiring.

When you hire garments you are often hiring for 2 days rather than a week.  If you have a party when you return and want to wear your wedding attire again, the cost of hiring soon adds up!

We found a great internet company called Formal Tailor that supply good quality Waistcoats and Cravats.  They have a great range of colours, waistcoats are priced from £17.99 and Cravats from £7.95

Wedding Jewellery

The Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham is definitely the place to shop for original wedding jewellery.  The Jewellery Quarter still makes 40% of UK jewellery and many shops have their own craftsmen and women who will happily make rings to your own bespoke designs if you are unable to find something in the wide variety of pieces already available.  You will also notice that prices are considerably cheaper than the high street.

Newleyweds

Traditional English mixed with the Caribbean sparkle made this wedding in St Lucia simply magical.
“A big traditional event never appealed us, we wanted an intimate party in a beautiful location that would bring our two families together whilst experiencing a fantastic holiday at the same time.  We settled on the Almond Resort at Almond Morgan Bay, St Lucia.  The Almond resorts are family friendly so with children and singles included in our party, this made Almond the perfect choice".
Here the couple are pictured on the beach, the bride wearing a silk Alan Stuart dress and the groom wearing waistcoat from Formal Tailor
